Here is a great clip from the movie Remo Williams The Adventure Begins. Chiun, a deadly assassin and the last Master of Sinanju has taken ex-cop "Remo" under his tutelage. Through intense breating excerciss and training Remo is able to run incredibly fast and light footed on wet sand...without even leaving a foot print! Talk about skill! The real kicker here is Craig Safan's chilling score "Remo Floats". It is almost as inspiring as the number from Chariots of Fire (almost). Mp3 here.

A meteor speeds towards earth, crashes in the back-woodsy Maryland. The very Creature From the Black Lagoon looking "galaxy invader" emerges in the forest. The local citizens catch wind of the Invader and set out to hunt and catch him. And that is the gist of 1985's The Galaxy Invader. The movie is awful, even for a direct to video b-movie. The best part of the movie is its synth laden intro. Composer Norman Noplock totally sells this movie through the opening...then the film itself starts, and disappointment.

Christmas Vacation... the things I could say, but won't. This great holiday classic will be playing in homes everywhere. You've seen it, you love it, and I wont bore you praising it. What I will do is hook you up with the film's Soundtrack. Apparently it never had an official release until recently. In 1999 some 20,000 CDs were made and sold as a promo at a Six Flags amusement park. I'm sure links to this album are popping up all over the web...but I thought id share as well.

I thought that the 80's pop sound that I love so much was dead...then I heard this great tune by The Drums. These boys from Brooklyn know there stuff and love their reverb. The first time I heard the song "Best Friend" I was expecting to find a lost eighties gem. To my surprise these guys released this in 2010! Not to say that the band doesn't sound current. But its wonderful to listen to something so easy and enjoyable.

I just spent the holiday down in beautiful sun-soaked Florida. During my stay I did a little shopping at North Point Mall. I was surprised and disappointed to find the legendary Vinyl Countdown record shop in the later days of a going out of business sale. Years ago I had picked up everything from Twisted Sister to Hall & Oates records there. While rummaging through the few remaining records I stumbled across Love Fist's The Number Of The Breast. The Scottish glam-metal groups most renowned album. At the low price of 97 cents I couldn't pass it up. As soon as I got back to my place on Washington Beach, I threw this record on the old turn table and let the "Four Scottish Horse Men Of Apocalypse" rock me way back to the 80's.

Perfect (1985) - Rolling Stone reporter (John Travolta) begins a story on the Cali fitness scene. He plans to write about the "The Sport Connection" club he goes in a rather unflattering way when...he meets the club's aerobics' instructor (Jamie Lee Curtis) and subsequently falls in love. Add in a lot of drama, ever more leotards, provocative workout routines that match Eric Prydz's Call On Me video, and a killer soundtrack and you have this movie. Based on true events....if that makes this movie any better.

Heavenly Bodies (1984) - The earlier and superior 80's aerobics movie. Its basically Dodgeball but you with two rival dance studios and sadly no Rip Torn. Same as Perfect...a story that falls short of much worth, aesthetically pleasing visuals of the great eighties, and again the real seller a super soundtrack.

Any SNES fans out there? Any Shadowrun fans? Any 16-bit vintage video game score fans? Well if you can answer yes to all three today is your day. Heck! If you can answer yes to only one of those things its your day.

Though not nearly as memorable as some of your better known game themes to come from the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Shadowrun deserves its mention. The action role-playing game takes place in a very Bladerunner-esque 2050 Seattle. The game's music composed by Marshall Parker is a perfect for this dreary future landscape. I was able to get ahold of Mr.Parker and asked about his experience about composing this music. His memory was a little foggy on this particular project(yours would be too after 30 some years of working with video game music). Mr.parker did recall the difficulties of trying to compose in a way that the music could be condensed to fit the SNES’s now minimalistic sound specifications. So to all of you who can remember this great game and it’s great Music here is a collection of the tunes i have put together. This music at the time was licensed to Data-East and has since been bought out by some other company and therefore is now way official. Enjoy!
